MINUTES FROM SPECIAL MEETING - APRIL 12, 2001 There was a special emergency meeting of the Hamburg Borough Council held this evening at the Hamburg Municipal Center with President Richard Boyd presiding. The meeting was called to discuss possible litigation regarding the Hamburg Area High School renovation project. Members Present - Richard Boyd, Jeanette Heckman, Roy Heffner, Charles Figard, Leon Balthaser, Diana Edwards, Scott Kreider Members Absent – None Also Present – Lynda G. Albright, Borough Manager Visitors: Gary Reeser (Systems Design), Greg Unger (Systems Design) A motion was made by Jeanette Heckman and seconded by Charles Figard to approve the following resolution in reference to Navy Lieutenant Marcia Sonon. ROLL CALL: AYES – R. Boyd, R. Heffner, J. Heckman, C. Figard, L. Balthaser, S. Kreider, D. Edwards NAYES – None Be it resolved that the Hamburg Borough Council of the State of Pennsylvania, by unanimous consent, wishes to recognize Naval Lt. Marcia S. Sonon for her involvement with the forced downing of a military surveillance aircraft by forces hostile to the United States of America. Her devotion to God and service to country represent exemplary conduct under extremely adverse circumstances. The type of conduct by her and her associated crew members serve as a long to be remembered example to those who follow in their footsteps. A willingness to serve your country and to put your own well being aside for its interests must never be forgotten by the people of this land. As Franklin D. Roosevelt said, "Freedom is not Free" An executive session was held from 6:35 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. to discuss possible litigation in regards to the Hamburg Area High School renovation project. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. on motion of Jeanette Heckman and seconded by Diana Edwards. Attest: Lynda G. Albright
