MINUTES FROM THE APRIL 4, 2005 MEETING OF THE REC BOARD The regular meeting of the Hamburg Recreation Board was called to order by President Scott Kreider at 7:20 PM. The following members were present: Anna Heffner, Scott Kreider, and Sylvia Summons. Barbara Heffner was absent. Visitors present were Borough Council members Martha Bertolet, Chuck Figard, Dale Schlenker and Tammy Wilkinson. Also present, Lynda Albright, Borough Manager, and Lynn Ernst, Secretary. A motion was made by Sylvia Summons and seconded by Anna Heffner to accept the minutes of the March meeting. Motion passed. The Borough Manager had nothing to report. The Recreation Director was absent. Tammy reported that she had applied for a grant for a Triple Racer sliding board for the park. The old board has been removed because it could no longer be repaired. Grant was made through LIDS, Legislative Incentive Dollars. The Community Days Committee will meet next Monday, April 11, in the Senior Center at 6:30 PM. After discussion, it was agreed they would share the room with the Etchberger Committee. Anna will approach Richard Spencer at the Appalachian Restaurant for help booking entertainers that appear at his Open Mike nights. OLD BUSINESS – A workshop was scheduled for the board on Thursday, April 28, at 7:00 PM in the Senior Center to again work on the five-year plan. Sylvia requested a review of the responses to the annual report at a later date. Anna asked what exactly should be included in the annual report. Chuck suggested the members set up a five-year plan and report what you did and didn’t do. Any additions and corrections to the plan should also be included. NEW BUSINESS – Scott mentioned that council had approved a bicycle race to be held on Friday, August 20. Since this date is slated for Community Day, more information is needed. A new member is needed to fill the five-member board as Mike Stasulli is not coming back. Scott suggested Memorial Day decorations for the park—yellow ribbons around the 17 trees which were planted fifty years ago in commemoration of World War I veterans. Anna reported an application for the USTA (US Tennis Assn) is appearing on the Internet, and requested that she be allowed to enter an application. Lynda said the solicitor should be contacted; Anna will contact John Speicher. Dale suggested a sale of red, white and blue bunting as a fund raiser for Memorial Day. The Etchberger Committee will encourage townspeople to decorate their homes for the holiday and the parade. The next meeting will be held Monday, May 2, at 7:00 PM. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM on motion by Sylvia Summons, seconded by Anna Heffner.
Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Ernst, Recording Secretary |
