MINUTES FROM THE AUGUST 1, 2005 MEETING OF THE REC BOARD

The regular meeting of the Hamburg Recreation Board was called to order by President Scott Kreider at 7:10 PM. The following members were present: Anna Heffner, Scott Kreider, and Kathy Maberry. Absent: Barbara Heffner and Sylvia Summons. Also present were June Hilbert, Recreation Director, and Lynn Ernst, Secretary.

A motion was made by Kathy Maberry and seconded by Anna Heffner to accept the minutes of the July meeting. Motion passed.

BOROUGH MANAGER – No report as Lynda Albright was absent.

RECREATION DIRECTOR – June reported that the Property Committee has asked her to have Norman Delong and Larry Ernst re-bid the job of repairing the countertops of the centerfield refreshment stand. This means the repair will take place next year. On August 12 a Summer Carnival and Swim & Dance will be the last big swimming pool event for the year. Scott questioned why there are no reports published in The Hamburg Item for park activities. June said the leaders don’t want to write reports. It was suggested that a form be designed for them to fill in the appropriate information.

OLD BUSINESS – Kathy will search for grants on her computer. Anna will have her husband drop off copies of the revamped five-year plan for Lynda. Kathy has contacted Vo-Tech for names of horticultural students whose services could be used at the park. Anna mentioned the need for a park map locating structures, trees, playground equipment, etc. Scott commented on the notice posted at the pool asking for interested persons to serve on the Recreation Board.

NEW BUSINESS – Scott read a resignation letter from Barbara Heffner, after which he submitted his own resignation.

The next meeting will be held Tuesday, September 6, at 7:00 PM. A workshop will be held Wednesday, August 24, at 7:00 PM in the Senior Center. The meeting adjourned at 7:55 PM on motion by Anna Heffner, seconded by Kathy Maberry.
