MINUTES FROM THE NOVEMBER 5, 2001  RECREATION BOARD MEETING

The regular meeting of the Hamburg Recreation Board was called to order by Barry Shollenberger at 7:00 PM.

MEMBERS PRESENT – Anna Heffner, Scott Kreider, Barry Shollenberger

MEMBER ABSENT – Glenn Powers

ALSO PRESENT – Lynda Albright-Borough Manager, Tonya Gerner-Recreation Director, Lynn Ernst-Secretary

A motion was made by Anna Heffner and seconded by Scott Kreider to approve the minutes of the October meeting.

BOROUGH MANAGER – Lynda reported that approximately two weeks ago she met with the tree trimmer at the park along with Glenn Powers, Roy Heffner and Rick Boyd. They decided which trees should be trimmed and/or removed. Rick Pickel, Public Works Superintendent has met with people from Carlton Pools regarding the swimming pools, but there was no information available at this time. She updated the Community Day report to indicate $4068.00 income, $3253.00 expenses, $815.00 profit.

RECREATION DIRECTOR – Tonya reported that the Community Day meeting which was scheduled for 11/8 would be rescheduled for December. She mentioned that the high school students participate in a "Day of Caring", usually the first Wednesday in May, and they could volunteer to clean up and paint at the park.

OLD BUSINESS – Barry has not yet finalized the letter thanking the Community Day sponsors. He reported on the October 13th walk-through of the park and tot lots. Scott presented a list of recommended projects to upgrade the areas. This list will be presented at Property Committee meeting on November 6. One item which needs immediate repair is the top plate on the Franklin St. sliding board; the borough crew will be advised to take care of this. Barry commended the borough crew for the excellent job they did to clean up the Dolly Haupt property.

Anna moved to have Scott Kreider reappointed to the Rec Board; Barry seconded the motion. Lynda emphasized that a fund raiser will be needed to repair the leaks in the pools. The projected cost of repairs is $75,000-$100,000.

NEW BUSINESS – It was decided that in lieu of the regular meeting in December, the board will hold a workshop and work on the 5-year plan. This will take place on December 3 at 7 PM. The Community Day meeting will be rescheduled to December 12. Anna and Barry will be the telephone contacts. .

The next regular meeting of the Recreation Board will be a re-organizational meeting to be held Monday, January 7, 2002, at 7:00 PM.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM on motion of Scott Kreider, seconded by Anna Heffner.
