MINUTES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2, 2003 MEETING OF THE RECREATION BOARD

The regular meeting of the Hamburg Recreation Board was called to order by Vice-President Anna Heffner at 7:00 PM. The following members were present: Anna Heffner, Mike Stasulli, Tina Yoder. Also present were June Hilbert, Recreation Director and Lynn Ernst, Secretary.

A motion was made by Mike Stasulli and seconded by Tina Yoder to accept the minutes of the last meeting. Motion passed.

RECREATION DIRECTOR – June reported that the playground and pool are now closed. There is a feasibility study being conducted by Wade and Associates. She is waiting for the final report to know if they will drain the pool to repair it, or put the cover on. The filter continues to run. The chemical company will winterize the pool. Soccer practices are now being held. She is interested in forming a summer basketball league. She will confer with two other interested adults to organize this for next year. The Community Days income and expense report was reviewed.

OLD BUSINESS – The items listed on the agenda were not discussed due to Scott’s absence.

NEW BUSINESS – The tennis court lights do not work; the basketball lights are working without having to insert any money in the coin box. An electrician has been contacted to repair the coin boxes. It was noted that the Jaycees foodstand electrical box is not labeled. The public works superintendent will be contacted to correct this. One of the used refrigerators which was purchased just prior to Community Day did not get cold. This has been repaired by Lesher’s Appliances at no charge.

Mike Stasulli made a motion, seconded by Tina Yoder, to put the redrafted Community Days thank-you notice in the Item and the Merchandiser. It was suggested that a letter of thanks and a computer generated certificate be sent to all platinum, gold and silver sponsors. This will be addressed at the next Community Days committee meeting to be held Monday, October 6, at 8:00 PM. Mike questioned the cost of the park’s electricity and also how the baseball association is billed for their lighting and use of the field. The secretary will research this for the next meeting.

The next meeting will be held Monday, October 6, at 7:00 PM. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM on motion of Mike Stasulli, seconded by Tina Yoder.

Respectfully submitted,

Lynn Ernst, Recording Secretary
