The playground season was very successful; gift certificates to the Berkshire Mall were awarded to top participants. OLD BUSINESS The next Community Days Committee meeting will be held Thursday, September 13, 2001, at 7:00 PM. Lynda reported $3800 income to date and approximately $3000 expenses. There will be a full report at the next meeting. It was noted that there was limited attendance after 6:00 PM. The petting zoo was a disappointment. The Mudflaps are tentatively booked for next year. Barry suggested that thank-you letters be sent to all the sponsors. This will be discussed at the upcoming meeting. Rick Boyd reported that the business association would like the committee to consider changing the date. This will also be discussed at the meeting. Tree trimming at the park will be done in the fall. Lynda has a quote to have this done. The tire tracks at the ball field have been filled in with shale. There is still a bad area along the third base foul line. Having this repaired will depend on the soccer schedule. NEW BUSINESS Anna questioned whether any committees are functioning. It was reported that the committees were formed when there was a seven member board, and there are not enough members to fill all the committees. Tonya has indicated she will not be available as recreation director next year, but has expressed interest in being on the rec board. The All Sport vending machine does not work but is full of money. The coin operated tennis lights are not working; an electrician had been contacted previously. Tonya made some recommendations for next year’s playground operation. The craft building has some very old equipment. The ping pong table and folding chairs should be replaced. The building itself should be cleaned and refurbished inside and out. Tonya stated she has a list of items to be replaced and/or supplied. The next meeting of the Recreation Board will be held Monday, October 1, 2001, at 7:00 PM. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:25 PM on motion of Glenn Powers, seconded by Anna Heffner. Respectfully submitted,
