HAMBURG ITEM

The Hamburg Item Newspaper's history dates back to April of 1875, when Samuel A. Focht started publishing the Weekly Item on a farm in Windsor Township.

Since then, the Item has grown tremendously, but its goal remains the same; to reflect the community it serves.

Now published by Berks-Mont Newspapers Inc., Boyertown, PA., the Item serves the Tulpehocken area, Hamburg area and Schuylkill Valley School Districts.

Located at the corner of Third and State Streets since 1930, the Item calls Hamburg its home and is proud to be a fixture in the business community.

A member of the Greater Hamburg Business Association and the Northern Berks Chamber of Business and Industry, the Item currently boasts a circulation of almost 4,000 and is published each Wednesday of the year.

The Hamburg Item prides itself in giving local news the attention it deserves and fostering pride in our communities.

It is only in the Item that proud parents can see their children announced as student of the month and that local police officers can be praised for their hard work and dedication.

It is only at a weekly newspaper office, where residents can stop by to say hello to our employees and drop off wedding announcements by hand.

By supporting the Item, subscribers support their community and the Item can continue to recognize the traditions of our unique town and its surrounding area.

Anyone interested in submitting information or photos to the Item should send them to the attention of:  Editor, 302 State Street, Hamburg, PA  19526 or stop by our offices.
