MINUTES FROM THE JANUARY PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING

The Hamburg Planning Commission met this evening in the Council Chambers of the Hamburg Municipal Center with Chairman Leon Balthaser presiding. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Leon A. Balthaser, George E. Confer, Dale R. Schlenker, James A. Gilmartin, Roy R. Heffner

MEMBERS ABSENT: Hank J. Clarke

ALSO PRESENT: Ed Moll, Sal Fiore, John Leonforte-Zoning Officer, Lynda G. Albright-Borough Manager, Denise L. Clare-Secretary

At this time the meeting was turned over to the Secretary for the purpose of reorganization.

Nominations for chairman were taken.

A motion was made by Leon Balthaser and seconded by George Confer to nominate Jim Gilmartin for chairman.

Nominations closed.

Nominations for vice-chairman were taken.

A motion was made by Dale Schlenker and seconded by Jim Gilmartin to nominate Roy Heffner for vice-chairman.

Nominations closed.

At this time the meeting was turned over to Leon Balthaser for the purpose of nominating a Secretary.

A motion was made by Leon Balthaser and seconded by Dale Schlenker to nominate Denise Clare for Secretary.

Nominations closed.

A motion was made by Leon Balthaser and seconded by Dale Schlenker to accept all 3 nominations.

ROLL CALL: Ayes-Balthaser, Confer, Schlenker, Gilmartin, Heffner

Nayes-None

The meeting was turned over to Jim Gilmartin at this time.

Jim Gilmartin stated that the Planning Commission should be notified when new members are appointed to the board.

A motion was made by Roy Heffner and seconded by Leon Balthaser to approve the October minutes as written.

ROLL CALL: Ayes-Balthaser, Confer, Schlenker, Gilmartin, Heffner

VISITORS

Ed Moll was in attendance to observe.

Sal Fiore was in attendance regarding his land development plans. Mr. Fiore stated that he only received the review letters on Saturday and hasn’t forwarded them to his architect yet. It was decided to hold a special meeting on February 3, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. to review the Fiore’s Restaurant plans. This will give them time to make the necessary changes as discussed in the review letters.

OLD BUSINESS

Zoning Ordinance-John Leonforte stated that he has 3 highlighted copies in his office for members to come and review. The parts not highlighted have not been changed.

None

Jim Gilmartin stated that he thinks that Roy Heffner is a good addition to the Planning Commission. He bring his experience from working on the comprehensive plan for the Borough. Jim Gilmartin asked Roy Heffner what the status of the comprehensive plan was. Roy Heffner stated that Hamburg is the only municipality that has approved it. The other final approvals are still being sought.

There being no further business, and on motion of Leon Balthaser seconded by George Confer to adjourn the meeting at 7:18 p.m.
