The profit from the poinsettia sale was $566.15. Everyone raved about the plants.
OLD BUSINESS - Kathy mentioned that the school board has a student member. Would this work for the rec board? This has also been suggested for borough council. Lynda will check with the solicitor. She further suggested having two students, one each from the high school and middle school. Kathy suggested racing little cars in the hockey rink, naming it the Hamburg Recreational Raceway. She will check at Hobbytown for track and accessories. The borough will receive property from the bank. Tammy reminded the board this can be used as in kind money for grants. Tammy read her draft of the year-end report, thus eliminating the need for a workshop. Kathy made a motion to accept the report, seconded by Tina. Lynn will type, copy and mail the report to members. Lynda requested a copy by 12/27 for the Property Committee. Sylvia asked about a refund of $25 from the borough from the King Frost Parade food stand permit. Lynda will check into this.
NEW BUSINESS - Lynda reported that the insurance adjustor recommended removal of the "monkey bars" at the park as they are no longer safe. Kathy made a motion that they be removed, seconded by Tina. Sylvia suggested we select a piece of playground equipment for the grant which is due 12/31. Funnel ball was suggested. Several fundraising ideas were presented. Flameless candles (rock salt and fragrant oils) were mentioned. Tammy will check for more information. These could be sold at the April 8-9 Craft Show at Leesport. June’s relative has a stand there—she will share it. Lynda suggested a Rec Board cookbook, beginning work on it now for publication later. Tammy recommended a raffle. She has talked to Marie Boltz at Gifts and Temptations, who will provide a quilt for $250. Other costs would be the printing of the tickets. Tammy will approach other handicrafters to donate items for the raffle. Target date for the raffle would be the Memorial Day Festival run by the Jaycees. June suggested scratch boards; she will purchase some and bring them to a meeting. The sale of apple dumplings was mentioned.
Discussion on winter activities was tabled because Kathy and Lori did not meet. The next meeting will be held Monday, January 9, 2006, at 7:00 PM.
There being no further business to come before the board, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM on motion of Tammy Wilkinson, seconded by Lori Riegel.
Respectfully submitted,Lynn Ernst, Recording Secretary
